As many of my friends know, TV is my life. Not in a cute ~girlboss/employed/making money~ way; it’s in a ~borderline insomniac/always consuming something/can’t press pause or my brain goes nuts~ way. So! Here are my predictions.
The cataloging of my realistic predictions/who I hope wins tonight is 89% to avoid licking the boot of yet another corporation’s Employment Algorithm (via cover letter) on this fine Monday afternoon…11% to bask in my own cleverness.

Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary: WILL win, SHOULD win
Emmy voters (and us normal folk) are nostalgic for the network TV of yore…ESPECIALLY one that works as well as Abbott (also Everybody Hates Chris got really hot)
Barry
Incredible show, any other year it would be miles ahead of its competition but “Best Comedy Series” is loyal to the traditional sitcom (even as it changed from multi to single cam)

Would love to see it bring home some awards, FX has a hard time bringing home the hardware though. Apparently Disney decided in SEASON 4 WWDS finally deserved some FYC Campaign money, butttt it might be too little too late.
(A note regarding Ted Lasso: I’m not trying to be a hater on Ted Lasso because it’s not an underdog anymore. I was in the midst of a prolific depression during its run; but I also was kind of like “eh”. It is more than likely that most Americans are just more comfortable with personal/emotional growth and I’m the one who is a philistine, begging for a dick joke. Again, I don’t know. Second seasons are harddddd and it’s hard to be critical when there isn’t a series “big bad”…Honestly, the first two episodes of Rob McH/Ryan Reynolds new football documentary series got me more horny for football than S2 (Welcome to Wrexham), but we’ll see. )

I can’t predict here because honestly, I couldn't watch Squid Game. I still get super scary Yellowjackets dreams and can’t put my poor little brain through that kind of sensory overload. I would guess either John Turturro or Kieran Culkin or Matthew Macfadyen based on what I’ve watched.
